Week 8: at Carolina Panthers
All RB vs CAR
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. David Johnson ran the ball hard and well against the Seahawks' tough front seven last Sunday night, posting 33/113/0 rushing and seeing 13 targets for 8/58/0 receiving during the contest. He is heavily involved in both phases of the game, and should continue to be the most valuable fantasy running back going into the second half of the season. He's currently first among all fantasy running backs with 146/681/8 rushing and 28/323/0 receiving to his credit. Start him if you've got him.
At New Orleans, the Panthers limited the Saints to 21/63/1 rushing in Week Six - Atlanta managed 25/90/1 rushing on this unit three games ago, followed up by Tampa Bay's 37/113/0 rushing on Monday Night Football two games ago. From Week Five to Week Seven of regular season (the last three weeks), Carolina averages 11.7 fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs per game (fifth-least in the NFL). Carolina is currently seventh in the NFL averaging 89.5 rushing yards allowed per game, with five rushing scores given out over six games played.
This is a tough matchup for Johnson, but he's proved to be able to score in either phase of the game, making him almost matchup-proof.
