Week 7: vs Cincinnati Bengals
Mark and Joe say: Great matchup. The Bengals' defense has allowed 36 and 37 points over the past two games (the Patriots also had a fumble return TD two weeks ago to run their total to 43) - this is not the elite unit that many expected to see when the season started. Tom Brady bombed the secondary for 23/35 yielding 285 net yards passing, two TDs and zero interceptions two weekends ago while taking just one sack for -7 yards; Cam Newton threw 29/46 for 284 net yards, two TDs and one interception last weekend, and wasn't sacked at all. The Bengals' defense is in an overall state of collapse entering Week 7, with 936 total yards from scrimmage allowed over the past two games (431 surrendered to Carolina; 505 to the Patriots). It's ugly all over for the Bengals D right now, folks.
Andrew Luck has thrown for 393 yards, four TDs and one interception and 370 yards, three TDs and one interception over two of the past three games, but was slightly slowed vs. Baltimore two weeks ago (312 yards passing, one TD and two interceptions thrown, but he added 6/22/1 rushing to his effort). He is the number one fantasy quarterback in the land after six games, with almost 2,000 passing yards already (172/260 for 1,987 yards passing, 17 TDs and seven interceptions thrown, with 26/83/2 rushing to sweeten the pot for his fantasy owners). The Colts' lead wide receivers, T.Y. Hilton (59 targets for 40/604/1 receiving) and Reggie Wayne (54 for 34/419/1) plus tight end Dwayne Allen (27 for 18/253/4) are must starters for fantasy owners, and Ahmad Bradshaw has made quite a lot of hay in the red zone, too (27 for 21/176/5). The bookend tight end across from Allen, Coby Fleener, has had fantasy-worthy moments this season, too, with 25 targets for 13/150/3. It's all good for the Colts in this phase of the game, folks.
The top passing attack in the league meets a defense in the process of melting down this weekend - advantage Indianapolis.
