Lions | Jake Rudock pushing for backup job (Sun Aug 21, 10:56 PM) - Detroit Lions QB Jake Rudock and QB Dan Orlovsky will be judged on their total body of work, and 'the best player' will win the backup quarterback job, head coach Jim Caldwell said.

Our View: This isn't a great backup situation. Rudock is tough and played with a ton of moxie in college at Michigan (and Iowa), but we don't know of any fantasy leagues that give points for moxie. From a talent standpoint, the rookie QB doesn't have a strong arm and needs better anticipation when going through his reads. However, he is accurate on short-to-intermediate throws and what scouts call a 'rhythm' passer. We'll be monitoring his progress -- but only in the deepest dynasty leagues.
