Week 12: at Indianapolis Colts
Mark and Joe say: Good matchup. Blake Bortles started off his NFL career with a bang (he took over as quarterback from Chad Henne (4/7 for 33 yards passing, three sacks taken for -11 yards during the last matchup vs. Indianapolis), throwing two TDs against the Colts (14/24 for 223 yards passing, two TDs and two interceptions thrown) as his team went down in defeat 17-44. Since then, Bortles has suffered the typical NFL growing pains that rookies face, and currently stands at 176/278 for 1,920 yards passing with eight TDs and 14 interceptions to his credit (34/204/0 rushing). At Dallas he finished with 22/37 for 262 yards passing, zero TDs and one interception thrown, and four sacks taken for -28 yards. Unfortunately, Jacksonville lost Allen Robinson (broken foot) for the season - he was second on the team in receiving vs. Dallas two weeks ago (10 targets for 5/60/0 receiving), behind Cecil Shorts III (seven for 5/119/0).
The Colts' pass D is 27th in the NFL averaging 262.9 net passing yards allowed per game, with 18 passing scores given out vs. eight interceptions (tied for 19th in the NFL) and 24 sacks (14th) generated. Tom Brady threw 19/30 for 257 net yards, two TDs and two interceptions at Indianapolis last week (zero sacks taken), while Eli Manning threw 27/52 for 349 net yards, two TDs and zero interceptions (with two sacks taken for -10 yards) against the Colts two games ago.
This is a good matchup even for a green rookie like Bortles.
