Week 7: vs Jacksonville Jaguars

All RB vs JAX

FBG says: Good matchup. The Colts offense looked sloppy overall against a weak Titans defense last Monday night. While their rushers averaged 4.3 yards per attempt, it was not pretty at all. Frank Gore led the team with 10 carries for 49 yards, while Marlon Mack was given only two carries for 18 yards. It was surprising to see Mack so underutilized after his impressive 91-yard outing in Week 5 along with a nice 22-yard gain on his first touch of Monday night's game. Robert Turbin out snapped Mack again as he rushed three times for only three yards, but he left the game early with an elbow injury that will sideline him for the remainder of the season. This absolutely has to bode well for Marlon Mack's workload, as those snaps spelling the veteran Frank Gore have to go to someone. The Colts offensive had a much better outing as they kept their quarterback upright and blocked relatively well on running plays, however this is still a mediocre line at best as they have been the most inconsistent unit in the league with 40 different combinations of starting offensive linemen since 2012--by far the most in the league. After a week where we saw the Jaguars play out of their minds against the run, limiting LeVeon Bell to only 47 yards on 15 carries, they proceed to get blown up by Todd Gurley to the tune of 116 yards on the ground. The Jaguars now rank second worst in the league against the run, allowing 145.7 rushing yards per game and the league's highest yards per rush attempt at 5.2. While most of their poor stats came from their 256-yard bludgeoning at the hands of the Jets running backs, the Jaguars have allowed three 80+ yard rushers in three of their other five games. With their pass defense playing as elite as they are, teams naturally have to try and lean on their rushing attack to gain yards against this defense that is playing very well overall. The Colts offense has not looked sharp at all, but they have a quarterback that can make plays with his legs along with a talented young running back in Mack who should see more work this week.
