Recent Game Summaries
2018 Week 16 vs MIA (4 / 4 / 43 / 0 rec - 8.3 points, $3600)
Moncrief had his usual game for the Jaguars - a few drags and crosser for YAC. Since he is on a one-year contract he will likely not figure into the Jaguars' long term plans.
2018 Week 14 vs TEN (10 / 5 / 47 / 0 rec - 9.7 points, $3800)
Moncrief was getting open on intermediate routes and bringing in the ball. He got the team to the doorstep of the red zone on one first half reception, then committed a questionable blocking in the back penalty to move them back. Twice he had chances to get deep balls from Cody Kessler, but one was barely out of reach and could have been played with more effort and the second he adjusted to well on an underthrow but couldn't secure. All in all it was another performance that reminded us of Moncrief's considerable gifts but inconsistent ability to turn them into production.
2018 Week 13 vs IND (4 / 3 / 40 / 0 rec - 7 points, $4500)
Moncrief led the Jacksonville receivers in yards and catches. He had a huge 3rd and 12 conversion in the second quarter on a catch-and-run Shallow Cross that went for 22 yards which helped led to one of Jacksonville's two scoring drives of the day.
2018 Week 12 vs BUF (4 / 1 / 29 / 0 rec - 3.9 points, $4400)
Moncrief had a 30 yard catch - a 50/50 ball that was initially ruled a touchdown. The officials overturned the call however.
2018 Week 11 vs PIT (2 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec - 2.1 points, $4900)
Moncrief was largely ignored throughout Sunday's game, despite being the team 's most frequently targeted player in most games this season. Moncrief sole catch came on a slant early in the game when he was able to beat the off coverage with his initial burst. Following this, Moncrief was ignored throughout the game and only saw one more target. His potential production was capped by Bortles' lack of willingness to test the Steelers ' defense deep, as well as his issues throwing against pressure.
2018 Week 10 vs IND (4 / 3 / 98 / 1 rec - 18.8 points, $4700)
He had the biggest reception of the day for the Jaguars, running a corner route of about 15 yards. Bortles allowed him to catch the ball in-stride, and his momentum allowed him to break some tackles and race for an 80 yard touchdown. Other than this play, he did not have much of an impact on the game.
2018 Week 8 vs PHI (7 / 4 / 54 / 0 rec - 9.4 points, $0)
While Yeldon led the team in receiving, Moncrief had the most output of the wide receivers. His best play of the game (and one of his better ones for the season) came on a deep corner route on the very first drive of the second half, where he had to make a back-shoulder adjustment and go to the ground to make the reception.
2018 Week 7 vs HOU (10 / 7 / 76 / 0 rec - 14.6 points, $4100)
Like the rest of the receivers, Moncrief had a very quiet day but became more active once Kessler entered the game. The team threw almost all quick, underneath passes for the rest of the game. He did have the biggest reception of the game on a wide open Shallow Cross on 3rd and 2 for a long catch and run. He dropped Kesslers' first attempt - an easy underneath Curl route.
2018 Week 6 vs DAL (3 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec - 0 points, $4400)
Moncrief drew a couple of deep targets very late in the game. He did not finish the game with a reception.
2018 Week 4 vs NYJ (5 / 5 / 109 / 1 rec - 24.9 points, $3600)
His first reception came on a Shallow Cross, where he broke a tackle to gain first down. He showed good sideline awareness and toe tap on a Comeback route right alone the sideline in the first quarter. He was on the receiving end of the biggest play of the game ñ a 67 yard catch-and-run fade down the right sideline. He got a free release against man in Cover 1, and the ball was delivered on time and in-stride so neither recovering CB or single high safety could make a play on it.
2018 Week 3 vs TEN (3 / 2 / 16 / 0 rec - 2.6 points, $3800)
Moncrief was non-existent in this game. He caught a Shallow Cross on the first drive for a 13 yard pickup and was did not have a catch again until the final drive. He was called for a holding penalty on a Dede Westbrook screen that gained all of 4 yards.
2018 Week 2 vs NE (9 / 4 / 34 / 1 rec - 13.4 points, $3700)
Moncrief finally converted on a successful back-shoulder fade, scoring a touchdown on first and goal (after starting the year 0-5 on these targets on the season). He was solidly but unspectacular on the day before leaving the game at the end of the third quarter with an apparent knee injury.
2018 Week 1 vs NYG (5 / 1 / 14 / 0 rec - 2.4 points, $4000)
The Jaguars are clearly trying to make Moncrief into their new version of Allen Robinson. Most of his targets came on low chance of success plays. Bortles interception came on Moncrief's second target - a 9 route with Janoris Jenkins in his hip pocket down the field. The ball underthrown and easily intercepted by Jenkins. It looked like Bortles was trying to target a back-shoulder throw. Jenkins had really good coverage; the best Moncrief could have done was to come back and play as a defender on Jenkins instead of allowing his momentum to take his jump upfield. He was argeted on a back-shoulder fade on 3rd and 5 in the 3rd quarter that was not open and the ball was not put in play. His first catch didn't come until the beginning of the 4th quarter on a Switch-Curl. Heargeted again on a Fade on 3rd and 7 on this drive, but was well-covered (this was a theme - all of these were wasted targets on pre-snap decisions by Bortles).
