Week 7: at Buffalo Bills

All WR vs BUF

FBG says: Tough matchup. This is an ascending unit, but there's little reason for Week 7 optimism in Tampa Bay's passing game. It will be helmed by either Ryan Fitzpatrick or a limited Jameis Winston, neither of which sounds like a high-efficiency option. Fitzpatrick deserves a lot of credit for his garbage-time bonanza last week; he completed 69% of his passes, threw 3 touchdowns, and ultimately came close to erasing a 31-0 lead. But he's still a turnover machine, and unlike Winston, his gunslinging mentality isn't supported by a cannon arm. Wideouts Mike Evans and DeSean Jackson, already mired in difficult cornerback matchups, would likely struggle to get under downfield throws from either Fitzpatrick or a version of Winston that struggles to move its shoulder. We may not know exactly what to expect until Sunday's team notes come out, but we have every reason to be nervous about this passing game. A strong Buffalo pass defense should have a much lighter week than anticipated. Jameis Winston's Week 6 shoulder injury means that Week 7 will put the Bills against either a hobbled Winston or Ryan Fitzpatrick. Both options sound like turnover geysers for the Bills, who have already intercepted 8 passes (second in the league), and efficiency may be hard to come by for either. The Bills' opportunistic defense will happily leap at any errant throws, causing many of their own with a dynamic pass rush. Rookie cornerback TreDavious White has been a pesky ballhawk; he's already broken up or intercepted 11 passes and done a fine job limiting matchups like Julio Jones and Emmanuel Sanders. He's not a full-on shutdown guy, and he can be beaten, as we saw from Sanders' first half in Week 3 and A.J. Green's 77-yard touchdown, which left White in the dust. But like fellow rookie Marshon Lattimore in New Orleans, he's become a hampering presence.
