Week 11: vs New York Jets

All RB vs NYJ

FBG says: Bad matchup. Since interim head coach Bill Callahan took over, the Washington Redskins have transitioned to a much more run-heavy offense than they were under Jay Gruden. Adrian Peterson's usage in the offense has spiked since Callahan took over, carrying the ball nearly 19 times per game while playing over 60-percent of offensive snaps each week. Running behind one of the NFL's weakest offensive lines, Peterson's 96 rushing yards per game over the last 4 outings comes as a bit of a surprise. This weekend, the Redskins face off with one of the NFL's best run defenses, but that should not deter Bill Callahan from attempting to establish the run early on against the New York Jets. Adrian Peterson should continue to receive significant volume on the ground, but this weekend his efficiency numbers are likely to take a dip against a top-flight defensive front. Through the first nine games of the 2019 season, the New York Jets' defense ranks first in the NFL, allowing only 3.0 yards per carry. Just last weekend, they held Saquon Barkley to exactly 1 rushing yard on 13 carries. On the season, the Jets have allowed only 1 100-yard rusher, which came in a week 5 upset of the Dallas Cowboys when Ezekiel Elliott mustered 105 yards on 28 carries behind the Cowboys' top-ranked offensive line. Folorunso Fatukasi's 2019 campaign has been one of the most unexpected breakouts in the NFL. Fatukasi, a 2018 6th-round draft pick, grades as one of the league's strongest run-stopping defensive linemen this season. Behind him, the Jets field two of the league's premier run-stopping safeties. Marcus Maye and Jamal Adams both have a nose for the football in run-support, and their presence around the line of scrimmage is critical to defensive coordinator Gregg Williams' run defense. Adrian Peterson and the Washington Redskins' rushing game is in for a long day at the office this weekend when they take on the league's top-ranked run defense.
