Week 12: at Cleveland Browns
FBG says: Tough matchup. In Ryan Fitzpatrick's own words he's just having fun playing football and it has largely inspired this passing offense. Even without Preston Williams, the Dolphins were able to have success throwing for 323 yards against a strong Bills team that had not allowed a 300-yard passer all season. DeVante Parker finally looks like the receiver that the team hoped he would start to turn into when they took him in the first round of the 2015 draft as he now has 50 yards or more in 7 of his last 8 games including a 135-yard performance last week against Tre'Davious White. Outside of Parker, the team is going to mix and match wide receivers as they line up Allen Hurns, Jakeem Grant, Albert Wilson and tight end Mike Gesicki. One surprise last week for the team was rookie Patrick Laird who was known as a receiving back out of Cal. Laird was targeted six times catching all six passes for 51 yards last week. The Browns passing defense is starting to come together after being a patchwork secondary for most of the season due to injuries to Denzel Ward, Greedy Williams, and Damarious Randall. The Browns will be without strong safety Morgan Burnett who suffered a ruptured Achilles which will leave the Browns with very little depth behind Juston Burris who played well filling in for Burnett. On the year, the Browns have not allowed a 300 yard-passer and have allowed the seventh-fewest passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks. The big issue this week for Cleveland is how might the lack of pass rush impact the Browns this week with Myles Garrett being suspended for the remainder of the season and Larry Ogunjobi also being suspended for this game. While the secondary has been great over the past few weeks, the lack of pass rush could give Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Dolphins receivers and extra second to get open. This remains a tough matchup, but not a bad matchup it otherwise would be if the Browns had Garrett and Ogunjobi.
