Quick fantasy outlook: The former second overall pick of the 2008 draft is fulfilling the potential of his NFL bloodlines and Hall of Fame DNA. Chris Long's 11.5 sacks in 2012 were tied for fifth among defensive ends (with Julius Peppers, Chris Clemons and Michael Johnson), and spearheaded the Rams league best-tying 52 sacks. This followed in the wake of a career high 13 sack season in 2011, also good for a top five finish. Bigger tackle numbers are all that separate him from the highest tier of defensive ends. If improvements come on offense (added top left tackle and tight end free agents Jake Long and Jared Cook, as well as explosive rookie Tavon Austin) and from bookend Robert Quinn, sack numbers could get a further boost. Long has become a team leader, and signed a five year extension last year for $60 million ($36 million guaranteed). At 28 years old, he should just be entering his prime.
