Week 20: vs Tennessee Titans - $

All RB vs TEN

FBG says: Tough matchup. The Chiefs backfield was handily led by Damien Williams in their win over the Texans last week. Williams played all but two snaps and accounted for 47 yards and two rushing touchdowns as no other running back got a single touch. The regular season for this backfield was far less clear-cut than last week as Kansas City leaned on a plethora of faces amidst constant injuries. LeSean McCoy had been a consistent contributor, but always at relatively low volume with more than 10 carries in just four games and no touches in the last two games to close out the season. Rookie Darwin Thompson only saw any real usage when Damien Wiliams was off the field. Late-season addition Spencer Ware seems to truly have been more of an insurance-policy given the injury-prone nature of Williams. If things play out as they did last week, and as they did during last year's post-season, this will be the Damien Williams show. With that said, no Chiefs running back has had a particularly high level of success as this team finished the regular season averaging 98.1 rushing yards per game (24th) and 4.2 yards per carry (20th). Their offensive line has been an above-average unit led by strong tackles, but starting left guard Andrew Wylie hasn't played since Week 15 and remains questionable for this game. With that said, however, quarterback Patrick Mahomes elevates anyone in this offense, as we saw with Williams last week as he scored three times despite seeing just 12 carries with 47 rushing yards. The Titans run defense gave up over 180 yards on the ground to the Ravens last week, but 143 of those went to Lamar Jackson with a chunk of yards coming in garbage time. Specific to the Ravens running backs, this Titans front seven did a great job shutting down lead back Mark Ingram, who rushed six times for just 22 yards. This Tennessee run defense was strong during the regular season, giving up an average of just 3.9 yards per carry (eighth-fewest) to opposing running backs. Their strength lies at the interior of this defensive line as Jurrell Casey, Jeffrey Simmons, and DaQuon Jones compose a stout front that will have a distinct advantage over the weaker interior offensive line of the Chiefs. They have a question mark at linebacker though, as the Titans' top run-defending linebacker Jayon Brown remains questionable with a shoulder injury that sidelined him from last week's Divisional Round. Brown has been excellent against the run and would certainly be an uplifting force if he were to return, however, the combination of David Long and Wesley Woodyard was a serviceable one last week that could likely hold their own in the middle of the field. Safety Kevin Byard has also been an impressive run-stopper, playing as one of the best at his position. All in all, the Titans should have the advantage in the trenches and a decent shot at stopping the Chiefs ground game after initial contact, especially if linebacker Brown is back on the field.
