Summary

The return of Deion Jones is as important to the Falcons as any move this offseason. After missing 10 games with a foot injury, Jones, a prolific tackler and leader of this unit, should slot right back in and turn what was a subpar defense in 2018 (without him) into a solid one in 2019. Jones racked up tackles for fun in 2017 when fully healthy; expect the 24-year-old to pick up right where he left off. Jones' athleticism yields many big play opportunities, as his pass defenses and interceptions suggest, boosting his already immense appeal as an LB1. The Falcons, in a show of faith, rewarded Jones with a new four-year deal prior to training camp. (July 18)

Falcons | Deion Jones agrees to extension (Wed Jul 17, 05:34 PM) - Atlanta Falcons LB Deion Jones agreed to terms on four-year contract extension with the Falcons Wednesday, July 17, worth $57 million.

Our View: The deal includes $34 million in guaranteed money. A great deal for Jones as he is now the second-highest paid inside linebacker in the NFL. His 2018 season was limited to just six games because of a foot injury. Healthy now, Jones has to be locked in on getting back to his dominant play. The Falcons have now come to long-term extensions with Jones and DT Grady Jarrett. This means they can move on to get something done with WR Julio Jones to make him one of the highest paid WRs in the league (again).
