Recent Game Summaries

2014 Week 1 vs DET (7 / 4 / 25 / 0 rec, 1 / -2 / 0 rush)

Jerrel Jernigan failed to make his mark on this game as the Giants looked very sluggish in their new offense. Jernigan got his hands on some short passes over the middle but failed to get many yards after the catch and could not use his quickness to his advantage. Manning tried to find Jernigan deep down the field in the first half but Jernigan did not achieve sufficient separation from the defensive back and the pass was not thrown in stride either so it fell incomplete. Jernigan seemed to have a small lapse in concentration as he looked unprepared for a quick slant that headed his way in the second half. He was never able to shake defenders when he got hauled in passes and his production was very underwhelming. Manning did not get adequate protection up front and was not afforded enough time to look down the field for guys like Jernigan.

2014 Week 2 vs ARI (2 / 2 / 15 / 0 rec)

Jerrel Jernigan was very quiet on Sunday and is not a priority for the Giants offense right now with very few passes thrown his way. Jernigan caught a short slant and then a short curl but for minimal gains. Manning has Cruz and Randle to throw to for the most part at wide receiver and the recent emergence of Donnell has also decreased Jernigan's role in this offense.

Latest News

Giants | Two promoted from PS (Tue Sep 16, 05:57 PM) - New York Giants WR Julian Talley and LB Dan Fox were promoted to the team's active roster from the practice squad Tuesday, Sept. 16, filling the spots left by WR Jerrel Jernigan and CB Walter Thurmond, who were both placed on Reserve/Injured.

Our View: With Jernigan out for the year, the Giants turn to Talley to take his spot. They've got the market cornered on UMASS wide receivers (Victor Cruz is the other one), and Talley is speedy in the open field. He can give them decent depth at wide receiver, but he's not the threat as a receiver that Jernigan was. Talley can also be used as a return man.
