Game Recaps

2019 Week 1 vs CLE (1 / 1 / 5 / 0 rec)

Officially, Adam Humphries was limited to just one reception on one target for five yards. He actually was targeted on a third-and-long near the start of the second quarter and would have hauled it for around a 15-yard gain in if not for a defensive holding penalty.

2019 Week 2 vs IND (2 / 2 / -1 / 0 rec, 1 / 1 / 0 rush)

Adam Humphries was a non-factor in this game, hauling in two of two targets for negative yardage.

2019 Week 3 vs JAX (9 / 6 / 93 / 0 rec)

Adam Humphries saw a big increase in usage this week as he ended up tied for a team-leading nine targets while leading the team with 93 receiving yards. Much of this usage came on quick routes as he was the beneficiary of tough outside cornerback matchups that funneled targets more towards the middle of the field. His first reception was his longest of the game as Humphries made a great over-the-shoulder catch in stride to pick up 30 yards. Humphries ended up being wide open on a few of his receptions as he did a great job finding space in coverage. It is also worth noting that three of his receptions for 47 yards came on the final drive in garbage time as he had plenty of time to operate underneath.

2019 Week 4 vs ATL (3 / 2 / 15 / 0 rec)

Humphries made a critical catch on third down near the end of the first quarter, hauling in an eight-yard out route to keep what would end up being a Titans touchdown drive alive. His only other catch was a relatively inconsequential six-yard gain in the second quarter.

2019 Week 5 vs BUF (6 / 4 / 30 / 0 rec)

Adam Humphries led the Titans in receptions and targets as Marcus Mariota struggled under pressure, opting for quicker passes underneath to his slot receiver. Humphries grabbed a 10-yard reception over the middle on the first drive. On the second drive, he was the target of a short pass on 3rd-and-3 but bobbled the ball before ultimately dropping it. He would grab another short reception before halftime. Humphries was the target of another third-down ball after halftime, which he converted for a nine-yard gain to keep the chains moving.

2019 Week 6 vs DEN (6 / 6 / 47 / 0 rec)

Adam Humphries led the team in receptions and targets for the second straight week, hauling in all six of his targets for 47 yards. He started the game off with a couple of third-down receptions, converting for the first down on just one of them though as he elevated to snag the nine-yard catch with a defender around his waist. Over half of his yards and three of his receptions came on the final drive of the game as he made three quick grabs of 6, 16, and 5 yards in what would end up being garbage time on the final drive of the game.

2019 Week 7 vs LAC (4 / 4 / 40 / 0 rec)

Adam Humphries caught all four of his targets for 40 yards as he served his normal role as an underneath option to move the chains for this offense. He converted two first downs in this game, both coming in the second half. It was his last catch of the game that would be his longest as he found himself wide open in the middle of the field to complete a 14-yard gain that would get the Titans into the red zone and set up an eventual touchdown.

2019 Week 8 vs TB (6 / 3 / 24 / 0 rec)

Adam Humphries had another quiet day moving the chains, including converting a third-down with a simple three-yard catch near the end of the third quarter and converting a second-down on the game-winning drive in the fourth quarter with a 13-yard reception from a quick slant route. Humphries did see back-to-back red zone looks near the goal line earlier in the game, but neither could be converted for a score against his former team.

2019 Week 9 vs CAR (4 / 4 / 65 / 0 rec)

Adam Humphries caught all four of his targets for 65 yards in what was another relatively uninspiring performance. He made the only catch on the first drive for the Titans but was just short of picking up the first down as they had to settle for a field goal attempt. His next opportunity came just before halftime as Humphries moved the chains on second down with an 11-yard catch, doing a great job coming back to Tannehill who was fighting off defenders. Humphries found space in the middle of the field to convert the first third-down of the day for the Titans near the end of the third quarter. He was wide open for the reception and gained 25 yards on the play.

2019 Week 10 vs KC (1 / 1 / 23 / 1 rec)

Adam Humphries had neither a catch nor a target until the 59:37 mark in regulation when he hauled in the game-winning 23-yard touchdown pass from Tannehill. Humphries ran a great route and got the benefit of the defensive back tripping up just as Tannehill let loose of the ball, allowing Humphries to make the catch wide open and easily make it into the end zone.

2019 Week 13 vs IND (2 / 1 / 13 / 1 rec)

The only reception for Adam Humphries came in the first quarter as he found the end zone from 13 yards out. He ran a nice out route to the left side of the field, coming back to a slightly underthrown ball to catch it around the six yard line. Humphries then turned upfield, made a spin move to evade a tackler and reached over the goal line as he stumbled the last couple of yards. He would be targeted just one other time on the day.

2018 Week 1 vs NO (5 / 3 / 27 / 0 rec)

Humphries played his usual role as slot man in multiple WR formations. He was quiet in the first half but contributed a few catches in the second half. Humphries did have a huge gain on a screen pass that was called back at the end of the first half for a holding penalty. He had his biggest gain on a nice catch-and-run in the third quarter that netted 20 yards. Humphries may see some extra targets next week if Desean Jackson misses time with a concussion.

2018 Week 2 vs PHI (2 / 1 / 8 / 0 rec)

Humphries played his normal snap count, but just wasn't part of the game plan offensively. He was targeted twice and secured a bubble screen for a short gain in the 4th quarter.

2018 Week 3 vs PIT (5 / 3 / 30 / 0 rec, 1 / 4 / 0 rush)

Humphries padded his fantasy stats with a couple more short catches in overtime. Humphries finished with 8 targets total, behind Evans(11) and Howard(9). He also held down his usual punt return duties.

2018 Week 8 vs CIN (10 / 7 / 76 / 0 rec)

Humphries got some extra looks in the passing game in a week that saw him favorably matched up due to poor depth in the Bengals secondary. Winston hit him on an out route for a 1st down early in the 1st quarter. Humphries made an amazing diving catch in the 3rd quarter, stretching out between two defenders to secure a pass from Winston and convert 3rd and long. Humphries appeared to score later in the 3rd quarter, catching a WR quick screen at the line of scrimmage and barreling over several defenders to reach the goal line, but an official review of the play deemed that his knee had touched the ground with the ball just shy of the goal line. Humphries cooled off a bit after a career week as Chris Godwin stepped up behind Evans and Jackson. He lined up in the right slot with two other receivers and worked his way open in the middle of the field as Winston scrambled right to buy time. The San Francisco defense lost track of Humphries, who caught the pass with plenty of room to weave between a few defenders in the secondary for a 28 yard touchdown. Humphries hauled in an out route in the 4th quarter that converted 3rd and 5.

2018 Week 13 vs CAR (9 / 7 / 61 / 1 rec)

Desean Jackson could miss next week with a new Achilles injury, meaning more targets for Humphries, Evans, and Godwin.

Humphries also continued to return punts in addition to his slot receiver duties.

2016 Week 3 vs LA (12 / 9 / 100 / 0 rec)

Humphries seems to get busier(and better) every week, and statistically appears to have supplanted Vincent Jackson as Winston's number 2 target. Week 3 was the first 100-yard game of his career, as he hit the triple digit yardage total with 9 catches on 12 targets. He saw his usual targets on short curls and crossing routes from the slot in week 3, but also took some snaps while lined up on the outside of the formation. Humphries had a nice one handed grab on a crossing route extend the first drive of the 3rd quarter. Humphries had to come way back from a curl route to catch a wobbly pass later in the 3rd after Winston was hit as he threw, but the receiver snagged the ball and turned upfield to break a couple of tackles and make something out of nothing.
