Week 11: at Tampa Bay Buccaneers

All TE vs TB

FBG says: Great matchup. In two games back from injury, Drew Brees has run the gamut with a dazzling Week 8 and a dud in last Sunday's stunning loss. Brees carved up the Cardinals for 373 yards and 3 scores, but managed just 6.4 touchdown-less yards per attempt against the Falcons' pitiful secondary. Overall, it's probably more fair to give the future Hall of Famer the benefit of the doubt and call last week's hiccup a fluke. He was uncharacteristically pressured in the pocket Sunday, taking sacks and failing to hit on much down the field. Brees draws another attractive matchup in Week 11, taking on the Buccaneers' weak pass defense. If his line can regroup and keep Shaquil Barrett out of the pocket, he should have plenty of time to let Michael Thomas work through the secondary and produce. Thomas continues to bully all comers, posting 89+ yards in 8 of 9 games thus far. Boasting an 84% catch rate over the past 2 seasons, he's the most dependable WR1 in all of fantasy. The rest of the wideouts are situational threats only, but perhaps Jared Cook will stay more involved after a Week 10 breakout (74 yards on 10 targets). Altogether, Thomas, Alvin Kamara, and Cook will likely account for at least 65-70% of the opportunity in this offense, and they could hardly ask for a more permissive matchup. All three project to find success in this fantastic bounce-back spot. The Buccaneers continue to field one of football's weaker pass defenses. They're giving up 7.7 yards per attempt and 316 per game, with 7 opponents throwing multiple touchdowns. At least they took a proactive step this week in waiving former first-round bust Vernon Hargreaves. The embattled cornerback had been shuffled around the lineup but never became even a passable cover man, and he'd been benched for loafing in Week 10. Rookie Jamel Dean will move into his full-time role, and he's been a mixed bag in limited action. Slot cornerback M.J. Stewart remains a major liability, and the outside men took turns giving up huge downfield completions last week. Even prized rookie Devin White got in on the catastrophe; on a routine third-quarter crossing route, he broke up an easy teammate tackle to help spring a 55-yard play. With holes all over this secondary, and a pass rush that's trending downward, this remains a thoroughly beatable unit. Drew Brees has often found success in this matchup, and he's in a fantastic bounce-back spot Sunday.

2019 Week 7 vs CHI (3 / 3 / 43 / 1 rec)

This was the most effective game of the season for Hill. He caught all 3 of his targets including a long 27-yard catch and run and a 7-yard touchdown. Hill settled into the void in the Bears zone coverage and caught a deep pass up the seam before being tackled for his 27-yard gain. His touchdown pass looked like a blown coverage but again came when he settled down into a void. Hill leaked out into the flat that was wide open after the defensive coverage rolled to the inside. HE caught the ball 2 yards from the line of scrimmage and ran the last 5 yards in for the easy score without being touched. The Saints offense has been banged up all season and it will take different people stepping up to keep the streak going.
