Week 14: vs Carolina Panthers

All RB vs CAR

FBG says: Good matchup. The Falcons have welcomed Devonta Freeman back from injury, as he remains a foundational piece of their offense in general. But as a runner, he's yet to provide anything of note here in 2019. The 27-year-old Freeman has looked closer to 37, stuck in mud and floundering, and he's gotten no help from a battered, inconsistent line. He's producing just 3.4 yards per rush and 42 per game, and 42% of his yardage has come from his 2 best weeks. Apart from those, he's averaged just 2.8 and 31. There's very little talent behind him, with just Brian Hill and Qadree Ollison as mix-in options, so Freeman's three-down role is cemented well. But even with the Falcons offense so high-volume and productive, Freeman is one of those rare workhorse backs that doesn't boast much fantasy value. Despite a bevy of talent up front, the Carolina run defense has been one of football's worst throughout 2019. They're giving up the league's most yards per rush and fourth-most per game, with 8 opposing runners topping 80 yards and several others falling just short. Last week, Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson combined for 228 and 3 touchdowns in Washington's stunning win. The Panthers front line has been generally solid, with Gerald McCoy and Dontari Poe holding their own on early downs. But the linebacker play has been shaky at best, with Luke Kuechly and Shaq Thompson contributing drastically up-and-down play. Tackling has been a huge problem on the second and third levels, with even franchise icon Kuechly often struggling the make plays. Altogether, this is still one of fantasy's most beatable units. These Falcons couldn't find any room when they squared off three weeks ago, but Devonta Freeman is looking at his best get-right matchup in quite awhile.

He earned six yards on a short pass where he spun off a hit in the middle of the field but could not reach the sideline or the first-down marker on a third down with 20 seconds in the half. 2019 Week 11 vs CAR (15 / 30 / 0 rush, 3 / 1 / 8 / 0 rec)

He began from the I-formation to begin the game and Kenjon Barner replaced him in a second-and-long passing situation. Hill lost a yard up the middle to begin Atlanta's second series. On the next play, he took a check-down up the seam and split a pair of linebackers for eight yards before exiting the game on third and short. Hill struggled through penetration two plays later for a gain of one. Once again, Atlanta tried to ram Hill up the middle for the third consecutive time to begin a drive and only earned a yard. Hill took the ball off left guard on the next play for four yards, fighting through contact to push for the gain. Hill pushed his way for three yards up the middle on a second-and-four midway through the second quarter. Early in the fourth quarter, Hill once again took an I-formation run up the middle that Carolina was ready for with penetration that tripped Hill up for no gain. Hill earned 3-4 up the middle in the fourth quarter and then bounced out a second-and-seven play to right end for 11 yards to get inside the Carolina 5. Hill then spun off two tackles and pushed his way to the Carolina one. Hill made a nice cut for the score on the next play but a questionable holding call nullified the carry.

2019 Week 10 vs NO (20 / 61 / 0 rush, 2 / 1 / 10 / 1 rec)

After a pair of penalties that forced Atlanta outside the Saints' 15, Hill took an attempt up the middle on trap and was stuffed for no more than a yard. Hill earned seven yards up the middle. The Saints stuffed Hill early in the third quarter on a pair of runs from shotgun. Hill earned 15 yards on a misdirection toss and then finished with a leap over the safety for another 3-4 yards at the sideline. He powered his way for four yards up the middle on the next snap. Hill earned an open look from the left flat after the linebacker stumbled to the ground on third and eight. Hill worked the sideline for the score from 10 yards out. He earned 12 nearly untouched around left end to begin a fourth-quarter drive and up by 11. He pushed his way for another three yards after getting stuffed at the line of scrimmage on the next play. Hill pushed through contact again for another five yards a few plays later.

Falcons | Brian Hill quiet in Week 12 (Sun Nov 24, 06:28 PM) - Atlanta Falcons RB Brian Hill rushed for 14 yards on nine carries against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 12. He also caught three passes for 13 yards during the game.

Our View: Hill again gave way to Qadree Ollison at the goal line, torpedoing any value he had in this game. He's droppable if you didn't drop him after last week's dud.
