Week 12: at Buffalo Bills

All TE vs BUF

FBG says: Tough matchup. The Broncos passing offense looked pretty good for a while last week as Brandon Allen was unapologetically airing the ball out downfield. While he did connect on a few deep balls, he missed more often than not while struggling to sustain drives, particularly in the second half. Through two starts, however, Allen has proven to be an upgrade over what Joe Flacco brought to the table for this passing offense. While not putting up flashy numbers himself, he has supported a couple of decent fantasy showings from Courtland Sutton, who scored a touchdown in Week 9 and amassed 113 receiving yards last week. Sutton is the undisputed top receiver in this offense and has seen a consistent level of volume all season both before and after the departure of Emmanuel Sanders, averaging about eight targets and 80 yards per game. It was actually tight end Noah Fant who led the team in targets last week though--marking the second time in the past three games he has been the top option. Wide receiver Tim Patrick returned from injury in his first game since Week 2 last week, and he was immediately involved with eight targets, hauling in four of those for 77 yards. While Patrick's ceiling remains low, he should provide a viable option opposite Sanders for this passing offense moving forward. The Bills defense has been particularly good against the pass this season, giving up just 217 passing yards and 15 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks--both ranking third-fewest in the league. Every pass-catching position is averaging a below-average fantasy output against this defense as the Bills sport a strong combination of pass-rushing talent up front and a well-rounded secondary. Their rotation of pass-rushers can be quite tiresome for an offensive line, with four very strong edge defenders all seeing consistent playing time to keep a fresh body on the field at all times. Safeties Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer have both done an excellent job over the top, as this Bills defense has tied for allowing the third-fewest pass plays of 40 or more yards (3) and the second-fewest pass plays of 20 or more yards (21). Cornerback Tre'Davious White has also played a big part in their success, as he is routinely shutting down opponents and will be a difficult matchup for Courtland Sutton this week.

Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 8 vs IND (1 / 1 / 11 / 0 rec)

Heuerman had a nice catch in stride on a skinny post from Flacco at the end of the 1st quarter. He went down with a knee injury before halftime and did not return.

2019 Week 5 vs LAC (3 / 1 / 26 / 0 rec)

Heuerman got open down the seam for a 26 yard gain on a play action pass to start the game. He was targeted once more in the 3rd quarter, but had the pass batted away by a defender.

2019 Week 3 vs GB (2 / 2 / 20 / 0 rec)

Heuerman saw plenty of snaps, but wasn't very involved in the passing game. He caught a short slant route for a 10 yard gain in the 1st quarter. He made another tough catch on a short curl route while breaking a tackle for a minimal gain in the 3rd quarter.

2019 Week 2 vs CHI (5 / 4 / 21 / 0 rec)

Heuerman saw plenty of snaps in two TE sets with Fant. He drew five targets but wasn't able to get much going with his receptions. He had a short gain up the right seam in the 1st quarter, and then followed up with another short out route a couple of plays later. Heuerman got smacked hard on an out route that came up just short on 3rd and 5 later in the 1st. He collected one more short curl route early in the 3rd quarter.
