Week 8: vs Minnesota Vikings
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. Mike Glennon has done his part to keep the Buccaneers' offense afloat, with 19/32 for 249 yards, two TDs and one interception at New Orleans back in Week 5, and then 24/44 for 314 yards passing, two TDs and one interception vs. Baltimore after Joe Flaccos' five TD blitz in the first 17 minutes of the game. Glennon isn't supposed to go play DB, so you can't blame the scoreboards on him, friends. Vincent Jackson (25 targets for 12/210/0 receiving) has been the lead receiver over the past two games, followed by Louis Murphy (16 for 10/107/2). Mike Evans has handled eight for 4/55/1 when healthy enough to play (as he was against the Ravens). Austin Sefarian-Jenkins (eight targets for 5/69/0 receiving) has also played an increasing role of late.
The Vikings' pass D is ranked ninth in the NFL with an average of 219.7 net passing yards allowed per game, with 12 passing scores given up vs. six interceptions (tied for 14th in the NFL) and 20 sacks (tied-sixth) generated so far. Kyle Orton was sacked six times for -28 yards last week but still posted 31/43 for 255 net yards, two TDs and one interception thrown; Matthew Stafford was sacked four times for -30 yards while throwing 19/33 for 155 net yards, one TD and zero interceptions. Tampa is tied for 13th in the NFL with 14 sacks allowed to date.
This looks like a tougher-than-usual matchup for Glennon and company.
