Week 9: at Cincinnati Bengals

Mark and Joe say: Neutral matchup. Blake Bortles over the past three weeks: 67/111 for 716 yards passing, three TDs and six interceptions thrown. Among the Jacksonville receivers, only two players have caught TDs from Bortles during that three week span: Allen Robinson (26 targets for 17/210/2 receiving) and Clay Harbor (14 for 11/152/1). Cecil Shorts has seen the most targets (33), but done relatively little with his chances (16/156/0). Aside from Robinson and Harbor, there isn't much to interest fantasy owners on this passing attack right now. Bortles is killing too many drives with turnovers (both interceptions and fumbles lost). The Bengals bounced back from their 0-27 thrashing at the hands of Indianapolis to defeat the Ravens 27-24. Joe Flacco couldn't get anything going at Cincinnati with 17/34 for 187 net yards passing, zero TDs and two interceptions thrown (one sack taken for -8 yards). It was a much better showing for the secondary than the 27/42 for 335 net yards, two TDs and zero interceptions with two sacks for -9 yards that Cincinnati allowed to Andrew Luck two games back. For the season, the Bengals still have more interceptions (nine, tied for fifth in the NFL) than TDs allowed (eight), while generating a modest 11 sacks (25th in the NFL). Against the Jaguars' sorry pass-blocking (32nd in the NFL with 33 sacks allowed over eight games), the Bengals will likely ring up at least a few more sacks and snag an interception from the turnover-prone Bortles. Cincinnati is currently ranked 23rd in the NFL averaging 258.4 net passing yards allowed per game. This isn't a horrid matchup for Bortles, but he'll be in jeopardy of yet more turnovers against the ball-hawking Bengals, at their house in Cincinnati. Also, Denard Robinson has a good matchup in the other phase of the game so the Jaguars may not put the ball up very often in this one.

Recent Game Summaries

2014 Week 6 vs TEN (4 / 3 / 91 / 1 rec)

Harbor opened the game with a huge reception on a deep crossing route. Bortles held the ball in the pocket and stood strong against the pass rush before delivering an accurate pass down the sideline. Harbor had created separation against man coverage, before he turned upfield to run to the goal line. Much like Marcedes Lewis typically does for the Jaguars as their starting tight end, Harbor disappeared for a long time after his early reception. His next catch was a short curl route midway through the third quarter. Harbor started the game with a big play and finished it with one, as he caught a touchdown pass over the middle of the field with less than one minute to go.

2014 Week 7 vs CLE (6 / 6 / 34 / 0 rec)

As usual, Harbor's first reception came early on in the game. This time he kept working in his route after Bortles extended the play into the flat. Harbor caught a short pass down the sideline. In the second quarter, Harbor caught a screen pass that the Browns quickly snuffed out behind the line of scrimmage. Bortles went straight back to his tight end on the following play, but they could only connect on a two yard gain. Harbor was being targeted, but always on short routes that were quickly closed in on. He eventually found a big play late in the second quarter when Bortles checked the ball down to him in wide open space underneath.

2014 Week 8 vs MIA (4 / 2 / 27 / 0 rec)

Harbor's only reception came late in the fourth quarter. He caught a screen pass for a relatively easy first down.
