Week 9: at Miami Dolphins
Mark and Joe say: Neutral matchup. Branden Oliver has moved the football for San Diego over the past two weeks, with 28/103/0 rushing and 10 targets for 9/38/0 receiving, but he hasn't found pay dirt and the team is clearly ready for Ryan Mathews (now out for the past six weeks with a MCL sprain) to get back in the saddle. He is said to be close to returning and if he doesn't suffer a setback in practices this week it would be no shock to see Mathews back in action at Miami. Keep an eye on his practice participation later this week to see if the Chargers' #1 running back will play in Week 9. They need him to help halt a two-game skid.
The Dolphins' rush D is ranked 16th in the NFL averaging 111.1 yards allowed per game, with just four rushing scores given out to date. Jacksonville had 30/176/0 last weekend, but Chicago was held to 14/52/1 two games back - this is a so-so defensive front between the 20's, but they tighten up in the red zone.
This is a neutral matchup for the Chargers' backs, but don't expect a lot of rushing TDs in SunLife Stadium for the Chargers and then you won't be disappointed.
