Week 8: vs Houston Texans
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. With Shonn Greene shelved due to a balky hamstring, Bishop Sankey has received his chance to be a featured running back. At Washington he posted 16/56/0 rushing with one target for zero receptions. Vs. Jacksonville he had 18/61/0 rushing with 1/7/0 receiving. Currently averaging 4.0 yards per carry this season (66/267/1 rushing with 4/39/0 receiving), Sankey is the 50th-ranked fantasy running back in the land - he is the mediocre talent many thought he is, but Sankey is the best back the Titans have with Greene out. Jackie Battle (2/3/0 rushing and 2/13/0 receiving at Washington) and Leon Washington (1/8/0 rushing and 1/9/0 receiving last week) provide change-of-pace options to Sankey. The Texans' rush D averages 118.6 rushing yards allowed per game (20th in the NFL) with four rushing scores given up to date. They held Pittsburgh to 25/76/0 rushing last week, and kept the Colts to 35/93/1 rushing two games back. The defensive front is playing pretty well entering Week 8, despite their middling season average. Advantage, Houston.

2014 Week 5 vs CLE (11 / 36 / 0 rush, 2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Bishop Sankey took away some of Greene's snaps early in this game, but he was still featured in the offense. Greene was as impressive as he has been all season, he is consistent but still very much limited once he gets past the line of scrimmage. Sankey's presence on the field highlighted this even more. Greene needs at least 15 carries per game to be as effective as he can possibly be, the Titans don't appear to have any interest in giving any back that many carries.
Latest NewsTitans | Shonn Greene arrested (Sat Oct 25, 11:39 AM) - Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene was arrested Friday, Oct. 24, and charged with a handicap parking violation, driving on a revoked/suspended license, reckless driving and resisting stop/halt/frisk. Our View: Maybe Greene didn't want to get frisky? On a serious note, the league could take action here but it could take months for the legal process to run its course.
link to story Titans | Shonn Greene probable (Fri Oct 24, 03:35 PM) - Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene (hamstring) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 24, and is listed as probable for Week 8. Our View: Bishop Sankey should still be the only Titans back even worth rostering right now, and with rookie QB Zach Mettenberger getting broken in, it's probably best to just avoid the entire Titans offense for now.
link to story Titans | Shonn Green limited again (Thu Oct 23, 05:41 PM) - Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene (hamstring) was limited in practice for the second straight day Thursday, Oct. 23. Our View: We'll see Bishop Sankey as the lead back for the Titans in Week 8 against the Texans. The rookie hasn't been overly impressive, but it looks like Greene's role (if he plays) will be a small one.
link to story Titans | Shonn Greene doesn't do all drills (Wed Oct 22, 04:11 PM) - Tennessee Titans RB Shonn Greene (hamstring) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 22. Our View: The Titans brought up Antonio Andrews off their practice squad earlier this week. Greene might be back soon, but he'll still be a reserve player behind Bishop Sankey. He has little fantasy value.
link to story Titans | Week 7 Inactives (Sun Oct 19, 11:34 AM) - The Tennessee Titans have declared LB Akeem Ayers, CB Coty Sensabaugh, QB Jake Locker, DL Ropati Pitoitua, RB Shonn Greene, TE Taylor Thompson, OT Will Svitek inactive for Week 7. Our View: Charlie Whitehurst gets another start, and the matchup against Washington gives him a reasonably high ceiling. Bishop Sankey should get a lot of work again today with Greene out.
