Week 7: vs Chicago Bears

All RB vs CHI

Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. There are warning signs aplenty for the Packers' rushing attack heading into this key divisional game. First of all, James Starks is out due to knee surgery. Starter Eddie Lacy (17/65/0 rushing with one target for 1/6/0 receiving) played through an ankle injury in the loss to Dallas, and was reportedly very sore on Monday. As of Wednesday, Lacy looks to be out. Finally, the Packers traded for Knile Davis, the forgotten man in Kansas City, on Tuesday, to provide some semblance of depth behind Lacy. Last weekend, Ty Montgomery (3/6/0 rushing with a team-high 12 targets for 10/98/0 receiving, mostly out of the backfield) helped out at running back behind Lacy, and that is likely to continue this week while Davis starts to learn the Packers' offense. Lacy's absence of course accelerates Davis' learning curve and puts Montgomery into more snaps in the backfield. Stay tuned to's Players in the News Wednesday night for the latest on this developing story. The Bears' rush defense limited the Jaguars to 20/54/1 last weekend, after Frank Gore and company managed 21/98/0 rushing vs. Chicago - they are currently 19th in the NFL averaging 107.7 yards allowed per game with six rushing scores handed out to date. From Week Four to Week Six of regular season (the last three weeks), Chicago averages 10.6 fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs per game (fourth-least in the NFL). This looks like a tough matchup for the banged-up and undermanned Packers' stable of backs.
