Week 12: vs Cincinnati Bengals

Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. Ryan Mallett looked solid in his debut as the Texans' starting quarterback, slinging 20/30 for 211 yards passing, two TDs and one interception with zero sacks taken at Cleveland. DeAndre Hopkins (eight targets for 4/80/0 receiving) went deep more than once, catching a 41-yard pass on one of his receptions, while Andre Johnson also piled up yards (nine for 7/68/0). Garrett Graham (two for 2/34/1) and J.J. Watt (one for 1/2/1) handled the TD catches for Mallett. The Texans' offense was dynamic with Mallett under center - he looks like he's in there to stay going forwards. The Bengals' pass D did a great job on Drew Brees and company last week, holding N'Arlins to 33/41 for 255 net yards passing, one TD and zero interceptions in the Saints' own house - two weeks ago, Brian Hoyer managed 15/23 for 198 yards, zero TDs and zero interceptions at Cincinnati. Though the Bengals don't generate much of a pass rush this year (only 13 sacks), they've limited the number of passing TDs given up to 11 through 10 games, and have 10 interceptions during that time frame (tied for 10th in the NFL). The team ranks 20th averaging 249.5 net passing yards allowed per game - this is a bend-but-don't-break style unit. Mallett has some tough customers coming to NRG Stadium, and the Texans have an attractive rushing matchup to boot - he may hand the ball off frequently in this game.

Recent Game Summaries

2014 Week 11 vs CLE (2 / 2 / 34 / 1 rec)

Graham had his most productive day of the year, which isn't say much given the complete under utilization of Texans tight ends to date. Graham was only targeted twice, but caught both balls and fought to get into the end zone on one. Graham might have built some cache with his new quarterback, but it's too early to tell. Graham should be on fantasy radars, but isn't worth a speculative add in all but very deep teams.
