Week 6: at Washington Redskins
FBG says: Tough matchup. The preseason fears of C.J. Anderson eating into Christian McCaffrey's workload appear to be over as Anderson has just 16 total carries on the year while McCaffrey has 45 carries over the last two weeks and has been excelling with 242 yards rushing in those two games. He appears to have taken a stranglehold of this position and is a focal point of this offense. If there is one knock on McCaffrey it is that Cam Newton is still being utilized as the goal line back as he has three rushing touchdowns compared to McCaffrey who does not have a rushing touchdown on the season and just two in his career. The Redskins rushing defense is a unit that is one of the more improved units in all of football this season as in 2017 they allowed the most rushing yards per game at 134.1 yards and this year are holding opponents to just 92.5 yards per game. A big reason for this is that the Redskins have invested heavily in Alabama defensive lineman in the first round to improve their unit. Rookie Daron Payne and second-year player Jonathan Allen have formed a formidable defensive line alongside Matt Ioannidis who has continued his tremendous play as evidenced by his 2017 breakout year before getting injured. This is a unit that will be facing a big test this week but looks to be able to potentially hold up to the challenge.
