News you need to know
From Mark Wimer's Monday injury report (Mon Oct 20): Gerhart was unable to practice last week due to his injured foot, and he was inactive on Sunday after being listed as out on Friday.
General News (Fri Oct 24): practiced fully on Friday and is expected to play this weekend.
General News (Thu Oct 23): practiced fully on Thursday. Gerhart appears ready to return in Week 8, in the opinion of beat writer Hays Carlyon. The team contends they will mix and match running backs.
General News (Wed Oct 22): partially participated in Wednesday's practice.
General News (Tue Oct 21): is progressing from a foot injury that has caused him to miss the last two games. His status will be updated Wednesday, Oct. 22.
Week 8: vs Miami Dolphins
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. When asked if Denard Robinson will keep the feature back job after the Jaguars' first win last Sunday, coach Gus Bradley said, 'Yeah, I think so.' Robinson posted an impressive 22/127/1 rushing, while Storm Johnson handled 6/16/1 rushing in a change-of-pace/occasional role - he is the definite backup to Robinson as of Week 8. We'll see if Robinson can build on his momentum at home this week. The Dolphins rank 10th in the NFL averaging 100.3 rushing yards allowed per game, with four rushing scores given up to date. Last week, Chicago was held to 14/52/1 rushing; two weeks ago, Green Bay managed 34/121/0 rushing at Miami. This looks like a tough assignment for the most recent starting running back in Jacksonville.

2014 Week 5 vs PIT (4 / 9 / 0 rush, 1 / 1 / 20 / 0 rec)
It appears that the love for Toby Gerhart is dying out in Jacksonville. He was very much part of a committee approach this week and he wasn't a significant part of it either. Gerhart was conceding snaps to Jordan Todman, Denard Robinson and Storm Johnson. Johnson looked to be the best of the group as Gerhart continues to be limited behind that offensive line
Latest NewsJaguars | Toby Gerhart listed as probable (Fri Oct 24, 02:58 PM) - Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) fully participated in practice Friday, Oct. 24, and is listed as probable for Week 8. Our View: Denard Robinson should still be the starter here. Gerhart has been an unmitigated fantasy bust this year.
link to story Jaguars | Denard Robinson to start (Thu Oct 23, 03:51 PM) - Jacksonville Jaguars RB Denard Robinson will start at running back in Week 8 even if RB Toby Gerhart (foot) is active, according to head coach Gus Bradley. Gerhart will receive some playing time if he plays. Our View: He should start as he's been much more effective than Toby Gerhart. Even when healthy, Gerhart seemed to be wearing molasses shoes. At best, Robinson is a low-end RB2 with upside which really tells you all you need to know about those molasses shoes Gerhart wore (which Nike should not put out for the public).
link to story Jaguars | Toby Gerhart appears ready (Thu Oct 23, 10:37 AM) - Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) appears ready to return in Week 8, in the opinion of beat writer Hays Carlyon. The team contends they will mix and match running backs. Our View: We're not sure you can tell the difference between Gerhart being "ready" and "hurt" as he was equally ineffective with both tags. We think the Jaguars will say the same thing and keep Denard Robinson as their chief back, if not starter. Robinson is a good flex startóconsider him an RB3 in wider formats.
link to story Jaguars | Toby Gerhart limited Wednesday (Wed Oct 22, 04:11 PM) - Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart (foot) was limited in practice Wednesday, Oct. 22. Our View: Gerhart may play this week, but his role will be as a backup behind Denard Robinson. It's safe for most re-draft fantasy owners to move on from Gerhart.
link to story Jaguars | Toby Gerhart progressing (Tue Oct 21, 04:05 PM) - Jacksonville Jaguars RB Toby Gerhart is progressing from a foot injury that has caused him to miss the last two games. His status will be updated Wednesday, Oct. 22. Our View: Gerhart is progressing, but he's going to come back to a new role with the Jaguars. Denard Robinson has emerged as the featured runner with rookie Storm Johnson working as a part-time player. When healthy, Gerhart should take over for Johnson in that limited role.
