Summary

The Jaguars brought in Toby Gerhart as a free agent in 2014 and were hoping for a feature back to lead their young offense. That just didn't work out for Gerhart and the Jaguars as Gerhart could only manage 3.2 yards per carry on 102 attempts for 326 yards. The opportunity was there for Gerhart to succeed but it is not likely that he will get a second chance to be the feature back in Jacksonville now that the teams spent a 2nd round draft pick on T.J. Yeldon. Gerhart could be more of a short yardage back and may find his skill to be on third downs and on goal line yardage. (May 16)

Jaguars | Jacksonville wants to run more (Tue May 26, 06:20 PM) - Jacksonville Jaguars RBs T.J. Yeldon, Toby Gerhart and company could see a lot of action this season as head coach Gus Bradley has said the running game will be a point of emphasis in 2015.

Our View: Good news for Yeldon here. The team has moved Gerhart to fullback, so his role as a ball-carrier could be quite limited. Yeldon is the player to highlight as the rookie has the ability to be a dominant runner in the pros. While big, Yeldon is not a pure power runner. He does have build-up power, but his footwork at the second level belies his large size. Yeldon has subtle moves to create space and he can pick up yards after contact. He'll likely be the lead back for the Jaguars with Denard Robinson complementing him as a change-of-pace back.
