After a year of misses and then a year of blocked kicks, Washington released Gano at the tail end of the preseason in 2012. Gano resurfaced later in the season, replacing Justin Medlock, to play the final six games with the Panthers. After that solid partial season, he had an even better full season in 2013. He was accurate on field goals (including a perfect 6 of 6 from 50+ yards) and led the league in touchback percentage on kickoffs. All that led the Panthers to re-sign Gano in February. Both of his co-specialists remain the same as last year - long snapper J.J. Jansen and holder/punter Brad Nortman. The Panthers have ranked in the bottom half of the league in attempted kicker scoring for five straight years (23rd, 31st, 18th, 30th & 21st). (May 25)
