Week 12: vs Dallas Cowboys

All QB vs DAL

FBG says: Tough matchup. The Patriots are looking potentially extremely thin once again at the wide receiver position as Mohamed Sanu is questionable with an ankle injury and Phillip Dorsett looks like he may not play with a concussion. This is critical as the Patriots are looking to get their offense back on track after struggling for the past few weeks. Last week in a favorable matchup, Brady and the Patriots had a difficult time moving the ball completing just 55% of his passes for just 216 yards. The problem for the Patriots has been finding a consistent second option outside of Julian Edelman. N'Keal Harry could be that guy as he saw 43% of the snaps in his first game of the season after being placed on IR, and could be a major factor this week if both Sano and Dorsett were to miss. The Cowboys suffered a significant injury this past week as Anthony Brown will miss the rest of the season with a tricep injury. The good news for the Cowboys is that if there was a position that they were the deepest at, it was likely the cornerback position as Jourdan Lewis who has been good this season is will step in full-time into the slot corner position. This is a Cowboys pass defense that has had the fortunate luck of facing an incredibly easy schedule so far this season as they have faced Eli Manning, Case Keenum, Josh Rosen, Teddy Bridgewater, Aaron Rodgers in a game in which Aaron Jones and the game script allowed Green Bay to not need the passing game, Sam Darnold, Carson Wentz, Daniel Jones, Kirk Cousins, and Jeff Driskel. Even with all of that, the Cowboys are a good defense, but not a great one, as they have allowed just two quarterbacks to throw over 250 yards, but both of those quarterbacks threw for over 300 yards. They rank 7th in yards per game, and 8th in yards per attempt, and it's a defense that has three solid cornerbacks in Byron Jones, Chidobe Awuzie, and now Jourdan Lewis, but the issue has been at the safety and linebacker positions, as the Cowboys have allowed the fourth-most receiving yards per game to opposing running backs, and the 10th most to opposing tight ends. This could be a game where the Patriots focus heavily on James White to move the ball as the Cowboys have been the 5th best against opposing wide receivers.
