Week 3: vs Green Bay Packers - $

All WR vs GB

FBG says: Good matchup. Alex Smith and the Redskins offense simply could not get going against what has been a porous Colts secondary. Smith completed over 70% of his passes for the second straight week, passing for nearly 300 yards and no interceptions but could not find the end zone. Smith, as per his usual, focused heavily on the simple short passes as he lit up Chris Thompson with the fifth-most targets (14) of any offensive player in the league last week. Thompson hauled in a career-high 13 of those targets for 92 yards, and he now has back-to-back games with at least seven targets and two red zone looks, leading the team in targets both weeks. Jordan Reed saw an uptick in usage last week with eight targets, most of which came in the second half during garbage time. He remains a top target in the middle of the field. Paul Richardson showed he can be a viable deep threat last week while Jamison Crowder continues to underwhelm as he has not taken a step forward as expected to be the top receiver for Smith. The Redskins will match up against a Packers passing defense that allowed 425 passing yards and four touchdowns in five quarters to the Vikings' Kirk Cousins last week. Cousins was able to move the ball almost at will against this Packers secondary at parts of this game while also making some big plays downfield, including a 75-yard touchdown on which Stefon Diggs beat out Davon House who was filling in for an injured Kevin King. King had been struggling even when healthy in the first two regular season games and preseason, but House has been a below average cornerback for most of his career. Keep an eye on King's status, but regardless of who suits up on the right side for the Packers, it looks like both Josh Doctson and Paul Richardson will have advantages over them. Jamison Crowder should see rookie Jaire Alexander out of the slot. Alexander did not fare well against Adam Thielen last week, so look for Crowder to have some upside here as well.

Redskins | Washington works out three players (Mon Sep 17, 05:47 PM) - Free-agent QB Paxton Lynch (Broncos), WR Michael Floyd (Saints) and WR Kendall Wright (Vikings) worked out for the Washington Redskins Monday, Sept. 17.

Our View: Washington has only two quarterbacks on the active roster (Alex Smith, Colt McCoy) and they don't have a third quarterback on the practice squad. Since getting released by the Broncos, 2016 first-round pick Paxton Lynch has gotten a few teams interested. Indications are that he hasn't impressed during the interview process. We'll see if someone wants to take a chance on the physical attributes (size, arm strength) that Lynch clearly has.
