Summary

Tre Flowers was the biggest free agency acquisition that the Lions made this offseason. They committed to a five-year, 90 million dollar deal with 56 million of that sum guaranteed. Flower is an excellent edge defender who proved in his time in New England that he could hold the point of attack and set the edge. He'll fill the shoes of the departed Ziggy Ansah and, given the arguably better supporting linemen that he'll work with this year in Da'shawn Hand and A'Shawn Robinson, it would not be unreasonable to project 50 combined tackles and just under 10 sacks. Lions | Trey Flowers to PUP list (Mon Jul 22, 12:43 PM) - Detroit Lions DE Trey Flowers (shoulder) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, July 22, as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery. The Lions can activate Flowers at any time, but he will not be ready for the beginning of training camp.

Our View: Flowers was a big ticket free agent signing to boost a very limp Lions pass rush unit. He should be fine for Week 1, but the earlier he gets off of the PUP, the better.
