Week 7: at Los Angeles Chargers
All RB vs LAC
FBG says: Great matchup. The Broncos run game has been an upper-tier unit virtually all season. Aside from last Sunday's debacle, they'd run for 111+ yards in every game and averaged a solid 4.43 per attempt. The rotation can be hard to pin down: C.J. Anderson is the clear lead back in default, but when Jamaal Charles is running especially well, he'll eat into the workload. But both have looked like strong runners for most of the year, thanks in large part to a rapidly developing run-blocking line. Zone blocking has worked wonders for Anderson and Charles, and both are getting clean escorts to the second level. It's safe to view Week 6 as a mere hiccup and expect these two to remain efficient, if utilized inconsistently.
Simply put, the Chargers have been atrocious thus far in defending the run, and they're a matchup to exploit whenever possible. No team has given up more ground yards, and only one (Jacksonville) has allowed more per rush. Opposing lead backs Jay Ajayi (28 carries for 122 yards), Kareem Hunt (17 for 172), LeGarrette Blount (16 for 136), and the Giants' mix of Orleans Darkwa and Wayne Gallman (19 for 126) have poured through them with ease. The linebacker play has been suspect, and the rest of the defense is largely built to make splash plays against the pass, so chunk runs come early and often.
