Jones-Drew has a hand injury and will not play in Week 2's game against the Texans.

News you need to know

From Mark Wimer's Monday injury report (Sun Sep 14): Jones-Drew didn't practice last week due to his injured/surgically repaired hand, and he was inactive on Sunday after being listed as questionable to play on Friday. He seems pessimistic about playing in Week 3, according to local reports on Monday.

From the upgrade/downgrade report (Mon Sep 15): The length of absence for Jones-Drew's hand issue will probably be short, but Darren McFadden looked good, and there's no reason for the Raiders to treat Jones-Drew a lead back when he returns. He's not worth a roster spot.

2014 Week 1 vs NYJ (9 / 11 / 0 rush, 3 / 2 / 12 / 0 rec)

Jones-Drew was bottled up all day outside of a 12 yard carry on third down in garbage time. He saw a large majority of the team's carries but there was no push from the Raiders line and when he did get in space he wasn't making anyone miss. Jones-Drew was destroyed in the backfield on his first carry of the second half and was fortunate that his fumble flew into the arms of Derek Carr. Jones-Drew had one elusive move, on a dump off in the passing game, taking it for ten yards and a first down.

Our View: It sounds like there's a chance Jones-Drew will play, but he's not worth a start either way. Counting on Darren McFadden or Latavius Murray as even a flex play is endangered by the possibility of Jones-Drew playing.
