Week 7: vs Washington Redskins
All TE vs WAS
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. Matthew Stafford rediscovered Golden Tate last weekend (as the team was without tight end Eric Ebron or pass-catching running back Theo Riddick) - Stafford threw 23/31 for 270 yards passing, four TDs and zero interceptions with one sack taken for -5 yards during the game, finding Tate for 8/165/1 on 10 targets. Anquan Boldin (nine for 8/60/1), Andre Roberts (two for 2/13/1) and Marvin Jones (six for 2/10/1) all scored TDs for Stafford last weekend. This attack is going strong entering Week Seven.
Washington didn't allow an offensive TD to the Eagles last week, and limited Carson Wentz to 11/22 for 145 net yards, zero TDs or interceptions thrown, with five sacks for -34 yards. Two games back, Joe Flacco had just 30/47 for 188 net yards passing, one TD and zero interceptions thrown, with three sacks taken for -22 yards. So far this year, Washington averages 242.5 net passing yards allowed per game, 14th in the NFL, with six passing scores given up vs. four interceptions and 16 sacks generated. From Week Four to Week Six of the 2016 season (over the last three weeks), Wsahington has averaged 12.9 fantasy points allowed per game to opposing quarterbacks (second-least in the NFL); and 13 fantasy points per game allowed to wide receivers (second-least); with 8.2 fantasy points given up per game to tight ends (10th-most).
This looks like a tougher-than-usual matchup for Stafford and company, but unless you are absolutely loaded at quarterback on your fantasy team, he'll be hard to sit given how explosive Detroit has been in recent weeks.
