As a rookie Davis opened the 2016 season as the team's nickel back. He moved into the starting strong safety role around mid season and all signs suggest he is there to stay. Davis is the kind of playmaking safety the organization has been searching for since the decline of Troy Polamalu. Davis has the speed and coverage skills of a corner with the physical nature of a strong safety. He has excellent ball skills and a knack for making big things happen. Pittsburgh's strong safety position has produced solid tackle totals in recent years. This is a trend that should continue with Davis roaming the middle of the field. What the position has not provided for either the team or fantasy owners is big play production. That should change in 2016. As a rookie Davis accounted for 55 solo stops with a couple of takeaways, 1.5 sacks and 5 broken up passes. With a full time role it is safe to expect improvement in all those categories. At the worst he should be a quality third starter for fantasy owners, with the upside to squeeze into the top twelve. (May 25)
