WR Andre Davis - Houston Texans
|6-1, 194||Born: 6-12-1979||College: Virginia Tech||Drafted: Round 2, pick 0|
2009 Week 1 vs NYJ (4 / 3 / 14 / 0 rec)
Davis dropped an early target and never really got going after that. He had a few short gains, but eventually suffered a concussion. His mediocre performance squandered a precious opportunity to make a case for more playing time with Kevin Walter out.
2008 Week 3 vs TEN (3 / 2 / 60 / 0 rec)
Andre Davis, the Texans kick returner, was only to connect once with Matt Schaub, but that reception was on a deep pass that gave the Texans great field position on the Titan 31 yard line and led to the first points of the game.
2008 Week 4 vs JAX (3 / 1 / 14 / 0 rec)
Davis was targeted deep early, but tripped over his own feet as he separated from his defender, and slightly overthrown on the other deep pass thrown to him.
2008 Week 5 vs IND (3 / 1 / 6 / 0 rec)
Andre Davis was only able to haul in one target, but it was an important reception that gave the Texans a key first down on their second touchdown drive.
2008 Week 6 vs MIA (6 / 2 / 28 / 0 rec)
Schaub had no problem looking to Andre Davis, even in heavy traffic. But Davis was unable to capitalize on most throws. With a couple of better bounces, he could easily have had the same line as Kevin Walter or Owen Daniels.
2008 Week 7 vs DET (1 / 1 / 15 / 0 rec)
Davis caught one pass for 15 yards on his only target in the game.
2008 Week 12 vs CLE (2 / 1 / 10 / 0 rec)
Davis saw little action on the day, playing behind Andre Johnson and Kevin Walter. He caught one pass for ten yards.
2008 Week 13 vs JAX (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Davis was targeted on a deep throw into the end zone, but the ball fell to the ground incomplete. In addition to his plays on offense, he also returned one kick for 35 yards.
2008 Week 14 vs GB (4 / 2 / 22 / 0 rec)
Davis had a 21 yard reception. His other catch went for one yard. He was also targeted deep on another Schaub attempt.
2008 Week 15 vs TEN (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Davis was the intended target on only one play, but that play was wiped out due to a roughing the passer penalty.
2008 Week 17 vs CHI (3 / 3 / 58 / 0 rec)
Davis caught each pass thrown his way, and showed his deep play ability by getting open deep and catching a pass. He was tackled before he could turn that play into an even longer, scoring play.
2007 Week 3 vs IND (5 / 4 / 70 / 0 rec)
Davis was the most targeted wide receiver on the Texans squad as the team tried to compensate for the loss of Andre Johnson. He had one big play, catching a 41 yard pass from Matt Schaub to give the Texans first and goal from the one on the first offensive touchdown drive of the game.
2007 Week 4 vs ATL (7 / 5 / 117 / 1 rec)
Davis took advantage of the opportunity to play and had an excellent game. He not only showcased his deep speed, but also ran good intermediate routes and had good timing with Schaub. Two of the targets he did not catch were thrown just out of his reach.
2007 Week 5 vs MIA (6 / 4 / 79 / 0 rec)
Davis had another strong game for the Texans, catching four passes for 79 yards on nine targets. He showed good burst off the line and the ability to get behind the defense, and had catches of 18 and 30 yards nullified for penalties.
2007 Week 6 vs JAX (6 / 3 / 30 / 0 rec)
Davis only caught three passes for 30 yards but he had been playing very well filing in for Andre Johnson. He wound up on the wrong end of instant replay twice in this game, however, beginning in the first quarter. Davis caught a short pass from Schaub at the Jacksonville four yard line and cut toward the end zone. He appeared to fumble as he crossed the goal line and the referees' signaled touchdown. The Jaguars' challenged and replay showed that S Sammy Knight actually forced Davis to fumble inches short of the goal line causing the ball to roll through the end zone and out of bounds for a touchback. Later, Davis caught a pass in the fourth quarter and was down on the ground when CB Brian Williams wrestled the ball away. It was ruled an interception. Houston challenged the play, the officials looked at the replay, but the interception still stood.
2007 Week 7 vs TEN (10 / 4 / 88 / 1 rec)
Even though Davis was targeted five times in the first half, he only caught one pass for nine yards. He would have a much bigger second half. He would catch a pass for a two point conversion early in the fourth quarter. Davis had a long 53 yard pass reception negated on a penalty in the fourth quarter. He would come up with an even bigger play as he caught a 53 yard touchdown pass with 57 seconds left in the game to give Houston an improbable lead late in the game. Davis had a game high 12 targets.
2007 Week 8 vs SD (5 / 1 / 6 / 0 rec)
Davis was targeted enough times to be a contributor, but he just couldn't gain any separation from the San Diego defenders. He wasn't very productive with his opportunities, of course, but it wasn't only because the San Diego defense did a good job on him. He dropped an out route on third down early in the game that would have given Houston a chance at a first down, and he was thrown to late in the contest when he was shaken up on the play. He wasn't thrown to after that.
2007 Week 9 vs OAK (3 / 2 / 51 / 1 rec)
Andre Davis made a stunning full extension diving grab into the end zone in the fourth quarter. He just flew by the defender and stretched out his entire body and fell into the end zone to put the Texans back up by 14 late in the game.
2007 Week 11 vs NO (5 / 2 / 30 / 0 rec)
Davis was targeted deep on two of his five targets. He managed to get open but did not appear to see the ball and did not make an attempt to catch it although he was open, and had his other deep passing opportunity deflected by a defender.
2007 Week 12 vs CLE (5 / 3 / 51 / 0 rec)
Davis had a quiet day, catching only three passes for 51 yards. He was largely a third option in the passing game and struggled to generate much yardage after the catch.
2007 Week 14 vs TB (1 / 1 / 5 / 0 rec)
Davis caught the only pass thrown to him for a five yard gain, but had a huge play in the return game, taking a kickoff back 97 yards for a touchdown.
2007 Week 17 vs JAX (2 / 1 / 20 / 0 rec)
Davis only had one reception but had a tremendous impact on the game by returning two kickoffs for touchdowns, one 97 yards and the other 104 yards, showcasing very good speed and moves in the open field.
2006 Week 6 vs DET (2 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Losman overthrew Davis on a deep pattern down the left sideline in the third quarter. Davis was wide open on the play. A better pass likely would have resulted in a touchdown. However, Davis also could have made a better adjustment on the ball Davis also was targeted deep downfield on the second to last play of the game. He has no receptions this season.
2006 Week 9 vs GB (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Davis is a big target, but mostly played special teams. The one pass directed his way was not catchable.
2006 Week 12 vs JAX (2 / 1 / 5 / 0 rec)
Davis was thrown two short passes and was not otherwise involved in the passing game.
2006 Week 16 vs TEN (1 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Davis did not record a reception, but covered two squibbed kickoffs for minimal yardage.
2006 Week 17 vs BAL (1 / 1 / 8 / 0 rec)
Davis was targeted once and he made the catch for an eight yard gain. It was only his second reception of the season.
2005 Week 8 vs BUF (2 / 1 / 6 / 0 rec)
One of Davis' incomplete target was a long bomb.
2005 Week 11 vs NO (7 / 1 / 60 / 1 rec)
Davis only made one catch in the game, but it went for a 60 yard touchdown. Four of the incompletions came when Brady looked deep to Davis. He might have had one or two more long touchdowns had the passes been more accurate. One of the incompletions looked to have drawn pass interference, but the call never came.
2005 Week 12 vs KC (2 / 1 / 23 / 0 rec)
Davis had one good catch but was not called on very often and is not looked to often enough to be included on a fantasy team at this time.
2005 Week 13 vs NYJ (2 / 2 / 28 / 0 rec)
Davis had receptions of 21 and six yards. Both resulted in first downs.
2005 Week 14 vs BUF (2 / 1 / 7 / 0 rec)
Davis dropped one pass and ended the day with one catch for seven yards.
2005 Week 15 vs TB (3 / 1 / 19 / 0 rec)
Davis had one 19 yard catch.
2005 Week 16 vs NYJ (0 / 0 / 0 / 0 rec)
Davis was targeted once, but didn't catch a pass.
2005 Week 17 vs MIA (6 / 2 / 47 / 0 rec)
Davis was targeted deep with the first pass of the game but was overthrown. His best contribution to the game was a 64 yard kick off return in the first half. And then he made a 36 yard reception in the third quarter that set up a field goal.
