Week 12: vs Miami Dolphins
Mark and Joe say: Neutral matchup. The Jets prevailed 27-14 the last time they saw the Dolphins (in Miami, no less) - they pounded the rock for 43/207/2 in that game, so Ryan Fitzpatrick only threw the ball 29 times (16/29 for 218 yards passing, one TD and one interception thrown). Last week, Fitzpatrick and company chased the Texans in Houston - he threw the ball 39 times, but hit just 19/39 for 216 yards passing, one TD and two interceptions thrown. The TD went to Brandon Marshall (10 targets for 5/47/1 receiving), while Eric Decker saw 11 for 4/81/0. As has been the case throughout the year, Marshall and Decker are the main cogs in this passing attack - they get theirs week in and week out. The Dolphins' pass D is ranked 20th in the NFL averaging 251.2 net passing yards given out per game, with 19 passing scores allowed vs. nine interceptions (tied for 15th in the NFL) and 22 sacks (tied-19th) generated. This team is ranked 11th in the NFL over the past four weeks (four games) in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks (23 per game), 12th in fantasy points given up to opposing tight ends (10.9), and is in the middle of the league in fantasy points given up to opposing wide receivers (22.5 on average during that time span, 15th-most in the NFL). Last week, Miami allowed 18/28 for 220 net passing yards, two TDs and two interceptions thrown to Dallas; Sam Bradford and company piled up 33/48 for 353 net yards, one TD and one interception thrown two weeks ago, after taking four sacks for -39 yards. The Miami rush D isn't any better now than it was in Week Four, so Fitzpatrick and company may have a lean diet of passes against this so-so pass D - this is a neutral matchup from many angles.
