Week 13: at Pittsburgh Steelers
All WR vs PIT
Mark and Joe say: Neutral matchup. Eli Manning said on Tuesday, November 29 that he apologized to Sterling Shepard for not getting him the ball in the team's Week 12 game Sunday, November 27, against the Cleveland Browns. Though Shepard did have one rush for 22 yards, the goose-egg in the targets department was a blow to many fantasy owners in Week 12 - the good news is that it sounds like that shouldn't happen again this week.
Manning did find Odell Beckham Jr. last week, with 11 targets for 5/96/2 receiving, while Victor Cruz was second on the team with five for 1/37/0. Dwayne Harris had one target but made the most of it with 1/13/1 to his credit. All told, Manning threw 15/27 for 192 yards passing, three TDs and zero interceptions (with one sack taken for -2 yards) despite sub-optimal wind conditions at Cleveland.
The Steelers' pass defense has been wanting most of the season - they average 263.5 net passing yards allowed per game, with 13 passing scores given up vs. seven interceptions (tied for 19th in the NFL) and 24 sacks (tied for 15th) generated. Last week, Scott Tolzien was held to 22/36 for 184 net yards passing, one TD and wo interceptions (with three sacks taken for -21 yards) while Pat McAfee added 1/1 for 35 yards passing, for a team total of 23/37 for 219 net yards. Pittsburgh gave up just 21/41 for 176 net yards, one TD and one interception to the Browns two games ago - their pass defense has clamped down on suspect attacks of late. From Week Nine to Week 12 of the 2016 season (over the last four weeks, but includes 14 teams on bye during that time span - each team has at least three games played in the last four weeks), Pittsburgh has averaged 17.5 fantasy points allowed per game to opposing quarterbacks (eighth-least in the NFL); and 21 fantasy points per game allowed to wide receivers (13th-least); with 7.3 fantasy points given up per game to tight ends (14th-least). On balance, they've played mediocre pass defense during November.
This looks like a neutral matchup for Manning and company.
