Recent Game Summaries

2014 Week 5 vs DET (6 / 4 / 21 / 0 rec)

Chandler caught four of his six targets, but outside of a 16-yard gain the other three catches only went for five total yards. Locked in man coverage with a linebacker, Chandler was able to simply run away from the backer as Orton easily completed the short throw. Able to turn up field with the coverage behind him, Chandler turned the shallow toss into a nice catch and run.

2014 Week 6 vs NE (9 / 6 / 105 / 0 rec)

Scott Chandler led the team in receiving yards as it was clear the Patriots defensive backfield had no answer for him. Chandler picked up 17 yards on his first catch as he worked down the seam. The throw was on the money, but most impressive was Chandler holding on through the hit as the safety delivered a scary shot to Chandler's knees. The coverage was clearly confused on Chandler's next catch as he picked up 28 yards on the nicely designed wheel route as he ran essentially uncovered. After picking up seven yards on a shallow crosser, Chandler wowed with his next catch. With the coverage draped all over him, Chandler could only get his left hand free as the Orton's throw arrived. Chandler was able to corral the pass, secure it to his body and maintain control through contact with the ground with essentially one hand. The connection went for 22 yards and helped moved the Bills deep into New England territory. Chandler and Orton hooked up one more time down the seam, this time for 18 yards as the tight end surpassed the century mark on the catch. Chandler did have one bad drop on his final target, but it proved inconsequential as the Bills ultimately reached the end zone on the drive.

2014 Week 7 vs MIN (6 / 3 / 36 / 0 rec)

Scott Chandler was limited to 36 yards on three catches, but he may have had the most important catch of the game as he picked up 24 yards on his long. Facing 4th and 20, with the game on the line, Chandler ran a simple seam route. Chad Greenway picked up the initial coverage, but because he was forced to chase he never saw Orton's throw coming. A perfect throw, Chandler didn't have to do anything but make sure he secured the catch. Two plays prior, Chandler had the opportunity to shorten the down and distance on a 2nd and 17, but couldn't haul the target in at it was just a tad too low and too far in front of him. Chandler's first catch came just before halftime as he ran a quick out and went for five yards. The Bills went back to that same play for Chandler's second catch as he picked up seven yards and a first down on the final drive of the game. Chandler was also targeted on Orton's lone interception, but the tight end could do little to help on the play as the pass was both behind Chandler and well over his head.
