Quick fantasy outlook: During his 4-year career, Jairus Byrd has already established himself as one of league's elite safeties. He broke out as a rookie with 9 interceptions and then improved his tackling in the next several years to emerge as a complete player. Last year was perhaps his best yet as he posted strong tackle numbers despite playing in a deep coverage role quite often, while also adding 5 interceptions and 4 forced fumbles. Byrd's status for the year is somewhat in question as he had yet to sign his franchise tender offer in May and was a potential risk for a holdout. In anticipation of a potential holdout, the Bills drafted two safeties in this year's draft and may choose to let Byrd walk in 2014 rather than pay him his asking price. Assuming he eventually signs the tender, Byrd should be poised for another productive season and wind up as a #1 safety in most fantasy scoring systems.
