Summary

Nate Burleson was brought in to be the team's third receiver and to push Greg Little for the second spot. However, with Josh Gordon's suspension, the Cleveland receivers have been jolted up the depth chart - perhaps to places they're not capable of filling. Burleson hasn't been a successful top receiver in his career, topping 1,000 yards just once - back in 2004. He'll be 33 by the start of the season, not typically the age at which a player develops new skills and grows into a star. Despite increased opportunity due to Gordon's absence, Burleson's production probably would have been higher with Gordon in the fold. (May 14)

Latest News

Browns | Will be active in WR market (Tue Jul 29, 12:35 PM) - The Cleveland Browns are expected to be active in exploring free-agent wide receivers. Their receiving corps doesn't have much size outside of likely suspended WR Josh Gordon. WRs Miles Austin and Nate Burleson have long injury histories.

Our View: The Browns are going to look everywhere for WR help. Cleveland may pursue CFL standout Duron Carter, son of Hall of Famer Cris Carter. He's currently with the Montreal Alouettes and starring in the CFL.

Browns | Nate Burleson practicing (Sat Jul 26, 10:15 AM) - Cleveland Browns WR Nate Burleson (arm) is participating in practice Saturday, July 26.

Our View: Burleson could be in for a sizable role with the team if he can stay healthy. Without Josh Gordon, the Browns are going to be relying on guys like Burles, Andrew Hawkins and Miles Austin to be primary targets at the wide receiver position.

Browns | Charles Johnson intriguing (Tue Jul 22, 11:22 AM) - Cleveland Browns WR Charles X. Johnson is expected to get a chance to rise up the depth chart and challenge the older Miles Austin and Nate Burleson for snaps.

Our View: Johnson is a name to keep in mind if you play in super deep dynasty leagues. The Browns are desperate for help at the wide receiver position, and there's a real opportunity in the passing game behind guys like Andrew Hawkins and Jordan Cameron.
