Week 14: at Houston Texans

All WR vs HOU

FBG says: Tough matchup. Few fantasy players saw Andrew Luck's Week 13 faceplant (33 of 52 for 248 yards and 1 interception) coming. He'd thrown 3 touchdowns or more in each of the previous 8 games, averaging 306 yards on 68% completions along the way, but fell victim to a lethal Jaguars defense that finally came together. It was a dud, but an excusable one. Luck has spent most of 2018 playing near the top levels of his career, and most importantly, he won't be facing that Jacksonville defense every week. His line was beaten badly last Sunday, but it was an understandable blip on an otherwise fantastic season up front. On most weeks, Luck is given tons of time to throw, allowing him to use the whole field and occasionally find T.Y. Hilton deep. For his part, Hilton has performed admirably as the only dynamic downfield threat. He's averaging 5.3 catches and 79 yards a game despite absorbing most of the defense's attention. And of course, tight ends continue to excel in this Luck-led offense. They've caught 18 of his 32 touchdowns, with 11 going to Eric Ebron, who's amazingly scored on 9 of his 10 receptions in the red zone. The Houston pass defense is a generally stout one. But it's shown noticeable cracks over the last month, allowing 290 yards or more to each of Case Keenum, Marcus Mariota and Baker Mayfield. Last week was somewhat excusable - the Texans led from the outset, and Mayfield threw all second half against a semi-prevent defense. But all three were able to find definite openings, which is a bit troubling with Andrew Luck coming to town. There's cause for concern, but it shouldn't distract from what's become one of the league's most imposing secondaries. The cornerbacks are strong as Johnathan Joseph has found the fountain of youth at age 34 is having one of his best seasons. Alongside Joseph, versatile Kareem Jackson is having the best season in his nine-year career and can play both the slot and the outside. The Texans also feature some of the best safeties in the NFL in Justin Reid and Tyrann Mathieu provide plenty of splash-play ability over the middle.
