Recent Game Summaries

2019 Week 10 vs SEA (8 / 4 / 42 / 1 rec)

Bourne started off the game well, scoring a first-quarter touchdown on a quick slant in the red zone against slot cornerback Jamar Taylor. After Emmanuel Sanders got hurt, Bourne stepped into an expanded role, playing nearly ever snap. Unfortunately, the only two things of note that Bourne did from there were absolute killers. First, he somehow volleyball-set a wide-open deep gain for San Francisco into an easy interception for Seattle. Then, late in the fourth quarter, Bourne dropped what would have been a carbon copy of his previoius touchdown. Making that wide-open catch would have (at the very least) set the 49ers up with 1st-and-goal inside the 10-yard line.

2019 Week 7 vs WAS (4 / 3 / 69 / 0 rec)

Bourne took over Marquise Goodwin's role in the offense after Goodwin got hurt on San Francisco's first drive. This role was abundantly clear on Bourne's three receptions, as all three involved routes typically run by Goodwin. The first was a deep out route from the left slot that gained 28 yards against safety Landon Collins. Both of Bourne's other catches came on backside crossing routes, but the last one was the same play Goodwin scored a touchdwn on against Cincinnati in Week 2. Namely, Bourne motioned tight to the line as if he was going to block, then navigated through the sea of humanity while the backfield executed a play-action fake, and then found himself wide open deep downfield. It would have been a touchdown if not for the tempestuous conditions producing an underthrow by Jimmy Garoppolo.
