Quick fantasy outlook: Since signing a five-year, multi-million dollar contract extension in 2011, Jon Beason has featured in only five games and has been dogged by injury. Last season started in promising fashion before the dreaded injury bug bit once more. Beason's absence allowed first-round pick Luke Kuechly to prosper, and he duly obliged by running away with the position Beason prefers, 'Mike' linebacker. Regardless of his spotty past couple of years, if healthy, the athletic former 'Cane can reach LB2 numbers playing from the WLB position that Thomas Davis totaled over 100 total tackles from last year. Because of his recent history, he is the very definition of a risk-reward player, but recent reports that Beason's recovery is ahead of schedule are encouraging.
