Ballard tore his right ACL the Thursday prior to Week Two games during 2013 - as of May 5, 2014 he's said to be close to 100% recovered from the injury. Ballard appears to be on track to fully participate in the 2014 training camp.

Summary

Vick Ballard suffered a torn ACL to his knee in week one last year, which was one of the reasons why Indianapolis decided to pull the trigger on the trade to acquire Trent Richardson. Ballard is expected to be back for training camp and resume a role on the offense. This year he may be playing more of an H-back role, which would greatly reduce his carry totals (he had 211 in his rookie season of 2012). The new role would transform him into more of a tight end that would also include pass protection. If Ballard sees more snaps in this role, look for Ahmad Bradshaw to be second in line in carry totals behind Trent Richardson. There are many weapons on the Colts offense, Ballard is expected to be among them, but not a major contributor. (May 21)

Colts | Trent Richardson will need to produce (Sat Jul 12, 12:15 PM) - Indianapolis Colts RB Trent Richardson will need to produce right away in the running game if he wants to keep the starting job, because the team will not wait for him to turn things around if RB Ahmad Bradshaw or Vick Ballard are playing well.

Our View: Richardson needs to get his confidence back. He looked tentative and lost last year after the trade which sent him from Cleveland to Indianapolis. Richardson is one of the most naturally talented runners in the game today, and he needs to start playing up to the potential he showed during his rookie season in 2012.
