Quick fantasy outlook: Vick Ballard is entering his second year in the league. In his rookie season he averaged just 3.9 yards per carry for 814 yards on 211 carries with two touchdowns. He is atop the Colts depth chart at running back for the 2013 season. At 5-foot-10, 219 pounds, Ballard has the size to be an all around back, capable of punching in a touchdown at the goal line and nimble enough to be effective in open space. The Colts have been a pass-dominant team going back several years whether Peyton Manning was quarterback or Andrew Luck. Last year Indianapolis had the fewest receptions in the league to running backs, with 34. The running game has not been a strong facet of the Colts offense, but Ballard should once again approach 200+ carries as the primary rusher. In fantasy circles, a thousand yard season is often accompanied by 200+ carries. Ballard may not be one of the best running backs in the league talent wise, but he has a good chance to be a consistent threat in 2013.
