Summary

Baldwin, arguably the best slot receiver in the game, is entrenched as Russell Wilson's top target heading into 2018. While his catch rate dropped precipitously last season from his 2015-2016 standards, there was no problem with Baldwin's hands, as he was credited with only two drops all year. The issue was the Seahawks offensive line not giving Wilson enough time to make accurate throws, which could linger into this season. Despite the decreased efficiency, Baldwin posted top-15 wide receiver numbers for the third consecutive year. And even if Wilson is once again hindered by his offensive line, Baldwin figures to see a bump in counting stats due to volume. The departures of Paul Richardson and Jimmy Graham in free agency leave 34% of the team's targets from last season vacated. Tyler Lockett will be counted on to step up. So will 2016 third-round pick Nick Vannett. But don't be surprised to see Baldwin exceed his previous career-high of 125 targets and return low-end WR1 value. (May 5)

Seahawks | Doug Baldwin loving life in the slot (Tue Jul 10, 11:22 PM) - Seattle Seahawks WR Doug Baldwin has amassed an NFL-high 2,315 yards from the slot over the past three seasons, 58 more than second-place Jarvis Landry and 364 more than third-place Larry Fitzgerald.

Our View: Baldwin will continue to be Russell Wilson's top target, and it's not even close. The one question is whether the offensive line if you can call it that last season gives Wilson the time to throw. Last year they didn't and Baldwin's catch rate fell, though he was only credited with two drops all year. Wilson just lacked the time for accurate passes. Despite that, he still put up top 15 numbers. Right now he's tracking as the 10th receiver taken off the board, and we think his volume will bear that out and make him a smart selection.
