Week 15: vs Dallas Cowboys
FBG says: Great matchup. The Colts have less-than-ideal wide receivers beyond T.Y. Hilton, but their offensive line (and Andrew Luck) has been outstanding this season in avoiding sacks. The Colts have allowed the second-fewest sacks and Luck is enjoying by far the lowest sack rate of his career. The Colts are middle of the road, however in big plays through the air and 24th in yards per attempt. On the plus side, Luck has the second-most passing touchdowns in the league and has 11 games with multiple touchdowns. The passing game runs through Hilton and Eric Ebron, both in the top-30 of receivers and tight ends combined in targets per game. Hilton has been red hot of late with at least seven receptions in each of the last four games with three games of 125 or more yards. The Cowboys pass defense is middle of the road in most categories. Generating pressure has been a strength of the defense, specifically by Demarcus Lawrence, but finding a consistent second source of pressure is the quest for Dallas. Randy Gregory has four sacks over the past seven games but has not won enough in the one-on-one matchups created by Demarcus Lawrence on the other side. Byron Jones has been a shutdown cornerback this season and Xavier Woods is one of the best safeties in coverage in the NFL. The ancillary cornerbacks have been suspect at best, especially the exploitable Chidobe Awuzie. Creating turnovers has been a challenge through the air as Dallas is in the bottom-10 in interception rate.
