Week 5: vs New York Jets

Mark and Joe say: Good matchup. Philip Rivers destroyed the Jaguars through the air last week, with 29/39 for 377 yards passing, three TDs and zero interceptions on the way to a laugher over Jacksonville. Eddie Royal stayed on his hot streak, with seven targets for 5/105/2 receiving (after six for 4/42/2 two weeks ago at Buffalo). Keenan Allen led the team in receiving with 12 targets for 10/135/0, while Malcom Floyd turned four targets into 3/39/1 - the Chargers' wide receivers got the job done during Week 4. The Jets' pass D is not nearly as good as their run D - despite four sacks for -21 yards Matthew Stafford threw 24/34 for 272 net yards and two TDs with zero receptions at New York last week, while Chicago posted 23/38 for 197 net yards, two TDs and zero interceptions (with four sacks taken for -28 yards). The Jets lead the league with 14 sacks this season, but San Diego is tied for seventh in the NFL with just five sacks allowed. On average, the Jets give up 228.0 net passing yards per game (tenth in the NFL), but they've allowed the third-most passing scores to date with nine given up, and they are tied for dead last in the NFL with zero interceptions generated. This should be a good matchup for Rivers and company, and they'll need to throw the ball a lot as New York shuts down most opposing backs.
