WR Seyi Ajirotutu - San Diego Chargers
|6-4, 204||Born: 6-12-1987||College: Fresno State||Drafted: ---|
Week 16: at San Francisco 49ers
Mark and Joe say: Tough matchup. Philip Rivers threw 24/41 for 232 yards passing, one TD and two interceptions vs. Denver last week - he did find Antonio Gates for a TD (seven targets for 6/54/1 receiving), but watched Keenan Allen get carted off the field with a broken collarbone (he's almost surely out for several weeks). Michael Floyd (seven for 3/34/0 last week) and Eddie Royal (four for 3/27/0) will have to pick up the slack for Allen over the final two weeks of the season. The Chargers' passing attack is suffering injury attrition (Rivers is battling a sore chest and ribs to stay in the games as well). San Francisco limited Seattle to 12/24 for 138 net yards passing, one TD and one interception last week, and sacked Russell Wilson five times for -30 yards. Two weeks ago, Derek Carr ambushed the 49ers in the Black Hole, throwing 22/28 for 245 net yards, three TDs and zero interceptions (with one sack taken for -9 yards). Most weeks, teams have a harder time throwing the ball on San Francisco than Carr did - they average 206.0 net passing yards allowed per game (third in the NFL) with 23 passing scores given out vs. 17 interceptions (tied-fifth) and 32 sacks (tied-19th) generated to date. This is a tough matchup for the visiting Chargers.

2014 Week 15 vs DEN (4 / 1 / 17 / 0 rec)
Ajirotutu is not a significant part of the San Diego gameplan, but injuries forced him to be a contributor in this one. WR Keenan Allen and WR Eddie Royal both left the game with injuries, so Ajirotutu saw himself getting extensive playing time. His first target appeared to be a catch when he got his hands under it and cradled the ball in, but after officials reviewed the play it was determined that the ball hit the ground. CBS production never showed a clean replay of the ball actually contacting the ground to know whether it was the correct call or not.
Latest NewsChargers | Seyi Ajirotutu to play more? (Tue Dec 16, 04:28 PM) - San Diego Chargers WR Seyi Ajirotutu played in a season-high 41 offensive snaps out of 66 snaps in Week 15 after WR Keenan Allen (collarbone, ankle) was injured. Our View: Ajirotutu is a decent player, but he's not at the level that Allen is. It's a downgrade in talent for sure, and the Chargers might struggle without Allen for the rest of the year.
