Summary

Chris Thompson enters his sixth season in a familiar role; he'll be the third-down receiving back. Thompson has never been a factor as a ball-carrier, although he was on pace for a career year last season before breaking his fibula, ending his season in November. Thompson's career yards-per-carry average of 5.2 is misleading because most of his carries come on obvious passing downs. As limited as he is taking handoffs, his value as a receiver is massive. Thompson has 129 career receptions for 1,126 yards and nine touchdowns and can be counted on for 50+ receptions this year, if healthy. Unfortunately, Thompson is only '80%' by his own estimation and doesn't expect to be 100% until November. (August 4)
