Luck suffered a setback and is unlikely to return to the lineup before Week 9 or 10 at the earliest.

Summary

Andrew Luck is coming off offseason surgery on his shoulder that he injured early in the 2015 season. He played through it in 2016 and still finished 4th among fantasy quarterbacks. The news surrounding Luck heading into this season is concerning. He was placed on the preseason physically unable to perform list (PUP list) on July 24th with no timetable for a return. Not only will Luck not play in the preseason, but his Week 1 status is in doubt. Even if he suits up to play in Week 1 or later, there will be some early game concerns with his effectiveness, accuracy, strength, durability and stamina. Luck is a top grade quarterback when healthy, but if you decide to draft him, it may be wise to have a backup plan. Luck is one of the top quarterbacks in the league, even when not fully healthy, so perhaps his time away from practice won't be as damaging as some believe. The Colts have a solid base of talent at receiver led by T.Y. Hilton, who has not finished outside of the Top 25 since he debuted in 2012. Luck will also have a healthy Donte Moncrief who missed 7 games due to a shoulder injury. In the nine games he played, he scored 7 touchdowns (all in different games). His return will help the passing game and give Luck more options on offense. If Luck reaches 4,000 yards passing again this year, it would make four times in six years. Consider Luck one of the top quarterbacks in the league, especially if he can rise to the occasion after offseason shoulder surgery and rehabilitation. (August 23)

He could undergo a corrective surgery in January if he does continue to feel pain but is optimistic that he will avoid surgery. He would be sidelined three to six months if he has another surgery.
