Summary

Dalton has shown the ability to produce big numbers in short bursts but ultimately hasn't been able to get his team over the hump. He's not the type of quarterback who can carry an adequate roster to an above average season or to high-end statistics. 2018 was another lost season as Dalton played in only 11 games due to a thumb injury. This season represents a critical point for Dalton; offseason reports ranged from members of the organization saying they're comfortable with him to others saying he won't receive a contract extension until he re-establishes himself. With a new head coach in town, if Dalton can't grasp the offense or lead it to a promising season, he could play his way out of town. New coach Zac Taylor should, in theory, help Dalton's prospects. An offensive mind who was quarterbacks coach for the Rams under Sean McVay, Taylor should build an offense around Dalton's skills (and limitations) to get the best out of his quarterback. But Taylor is unproven, making that result far from a foregone conclusion. (September 3)

Bengals | Andy Dalton posts respectable line (Sun Oct 6, 04:38 PM) - Cincinnati Bengals QB Andy Dalton completed 27-of-38 passes for 262 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions in Week 5 against the Arizona Cardinals.

Our View: Dalton has played well in three comeback attempts this year, but none have been successful. Even without two starting receivers, he should be worth a 2QB/Superflex start next week at Baltimore.
